Shepherd of the City: Trinity 2015 Update

Grace and peace to you from the City of Brotherly Love. The Lord continues to be faithful to us here at Shepherd of the City.

Community Movie Night

In August, we hosted a community movie night as a way to reach out to the neighborhood near the church. We welcomed nearly 70 neighbors and members of the congregation to an outdoor showing of “Frozen.” Local businesses sponsored the event.

Servant Events

We held two servant events at Shepherd of the City, and three congregations, Mt. Calvary Lutheran (Lititz, PA), Christ Memorial Lutheran (Malvern, PA) and Our Redeemer Lutheran (Smithfield, RI), participated.

Volunteers helped beautify the church by refinishing the chancel’s hardwood floor, planting flowers, mulching, and cleaning. We are grateful for all the volunteers who helped create a beautiful space where many people living in difficult circumstances will hear and receive the forgiveness of sins in Christ.

We also look forward to a week-long servant event organized by Higher Things (August 2016) where teens from churches across the country will come to work on projects throughout the city.

Steady Growth

Baptism

Our congregation at Shepherd of the City Lutheran Church continues to grow. Four women will soon be received as new members by profession of faith.

With great joy, we received another baptized member into the fold in early June. On the Sunday of his baptism we had nearly 50 people in attendance.

To God alone be praise and glory for His faithfulness.

Please keep my wife Melissa, son Knox and me in your prayers we work to serve the many here in the city who have been starved for the Gospel for too long.

This worthy endeavor is not possible without you and your churches. The fields are ripe here in our city for many to receive our Lord’s gracious word and sacraments given for the forgiveness of sins, life and salvation.
