Shepherd of the City - Lent 2016

We give thanks to God for the continued growth and new faces at the mission congregation, Shepherd of the City Lutheran Church.

In February, the congregation enjoyed a Sunday with record-high attendance at Divine Service. The same month, four new members were confirmed by profession of faith.

One new member transferred his membership after moving from Virginia. He finds the work of the ministry compelling, especially as the congregation welcomes a blend of many nationalities. He has volunteered to help with technology needs, such as playing the recorded organ music for services, and has been a tremendous addition to the discussions of the faith in Sunday Scripture study.

In addition to instructing and confirming a number of adults, Rev DeGroot was able to baptize a couple in the neighborhood who he met through another faithful member at Shepherd. We pray for these newly baptized that they would grow in their faith in Christ Jesus for their salvation.

Please continue to pray for this wonderful congregation and for the faith of its members as they serve God and their neighbors with joy. Pray also that our Heavenly Father would bless the proclamation of His Son’s atoning work.
